Question: Forty five days have passed since I have given birth to my child. I am still experiencing bleeding, when should i purify myself and how?
Answer: According to the hanafis the maximum amount of time for nifaas (bleeding after childbirth) is forty days. After forty days of bleeding after childbirth has finished, then ghusl has to be made and salaah, fasting all become compulsory and has to be made. However due to the fact that you are still bleeding, you will have to take a new fresh whudhu for every salaah. For example: As soon as the time of salaahtul dhuhr expires, then the whudhu will be broken and a new whudhu will have to be made for salaahtul asr. According to the Shaafi'ees the maximum amount of time for nifaas(bleeding after childbirth ) is sixty days. The bath or ''The Ghusl'' Should be made in the same way it is done after your monthly menses or after sexual intercourse.. Please refer to the Question on ''SAULIHAH Q&A'' on the method of ghusl after janaabat.
