Question: I would like to know what is the method of performing ghusl after having been in a state of janaabat?
Answer:' After being in a state of janabat (greater impurity) One has to perform Ghusl(Bath) The method of ghusl is as follows according to the Hanafi Madhab: 1.To make intention to cleanse ones self from janabat(greater impurity) 2.To wash both hands up to the wrists three times. 3.To make Istinja (Remove impurity from the private parts) 4.To wash the entire Body from head to toe Removing all the dirt from the body. 5.To make whudhu. (If while standing in a bath the feet is in the water then the washing of the feet should be delayed until coming out of the bath) 6.To throw water over the right shoulder thrice. 7.To throw water over the left shoulder thrice. 8.To throw water over the head thrice. (When throwing water over the shoulders and head it is better to rub the body to make sure that each part is wet with water.) It is of utmost importance to remember that one must make sure that each and every hair on the body is wet for the ghusl to be valid. Rings and ear rings should preferably be removed, or atleast rotated.. If one strand of hair on the body is not wet, then the ghusl will be invalid.
If the feet were in a puddle of water surrounding the feet during ghusl and washing them had been delayed, then the feet should be washed as soon as one comes out of the bath. One should hasten to dry the body and put on the clothing.
