Answer: 
A woman whose husband dies should remain in iddah for four months and ten days. However, if the woman was pregnant at the time of her husbands demise, she should remain in iddat until the child is born. For a woman whose husband divorces her the period of iddat ends after the duration of  three haidh periods.(hanafi)
