The Islamic Concept of Al-walaa (alegience) wal Baraa (enmity)
The topic of Walaa' and Baraa' is of great importance for three main reasons:-
The concept of walaa' and baraa' is one of the greatest fundamentals of the Islaamic creed ('aqeedah).
Shaykh Ahmad ibn 'Ateeq, rahimahullaah, said:
"There isn't in the Book of Allaah the Exalted - after the issue concerning the obligation of tawheed and the forbiddance of its opposite - any issue which has as so many proofs, nor so clearly explained, than the issue of walaa' and baraa'." |

One can undoubtedly recognise that this war is against Islam and Muslims. No matter where the crUSAder forces enter, one can see the damage and harm that they leave behind. Despite massacring our fathers, orphaning our children and widowing our wives, we have yet to take into heed the images released from prisons such as Abu Ghraib and the well-known Guantanamo Bay.
Unfortunately living and growing up in the West, Muslims find it very difficult to help and aid our brothers and sisters elsewhere.
When it came to the imprisonment of British non Muslims such as Ken Bigley, many Muslim organisations were at the forefront of those working to hasten his release, and felt very hurt when they saw Ken Bigley in a cage. Yet why is it that, when it comes to a Muslim, a brother with a beard, or a sister with a Hijab, these very Muslim organisations come to the media only to call them “terrorist” or brand them as “extremist?”

Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu report, Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: "There are three people whose dua's are not rejected, the fasting person until he breaks the fast, the just ruler and the dua of the oppressed whose dua Allah lifts above the clouds and opens unto it the doors of the heavens, and Allah says, I swear by My honour, verily I shall assist you even though it may be after some time".
Reported by Ahmad & Tarmizi.
In Durre Manthoor it is reported from Aisha Radiallahu Anha that when Ramadhaan arrived the colour of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam face used to change. He then used to increase Salaah, became even more humble in his dua and had even more fear for Allah. According to another report he hardly ever lay down in bed until Ramadhaan came to an end. Further, in a Hadith it is stated that the Malaaikah bearing the throne are commanded in Ramadhaan to leave everything else and recite "Aameen" to the Dua if those who fast. There are many Ahadeeth stating that the Dua's during Ramadhaan in particular are accepted. When Allah has promised and his truthful Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam has informed us, there should be no doubt whatsoever about the truth of these reports. Yet it is strange that in spite of this, we still find such people who apparently do not get what they make Dua for. They ask and do not receive. This does not mean that their dua's have been rejected. One should at this point understand the meaning of Dua being answered.

Is it true that a housewife is really? Many women today are independent, successful, educated, professional and self-sufficient. It is indeed unfortunate that these are the standards by which in this age and time we measure "success" and we regard women with these qualities as "intelligent and progressive" as opposed to "uneducated and backward" housewife in the house.
However careful analysis reveals that the woman of the house fulfills the following roles:
1. She is a wife to her husband.
2. She is a mother to her children.

An Islamic organization made a last-ditch attempt Tuesday to challenge President Bush's wiretapping program in court, saying it can prove it was the target of government spying by citing nonsecret information - a speech by a deputy FBI director.
A federal judge in San Francisco had ruled July 8 that Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation could not use secret evidence - a classified document that the government accidentally turned over to the foundation - to show it was wiretapped. Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker then dismissed Al-Haramain's lawsuit, saying the organization could not prove it was harmed by the surveillance program and thus had no right to challenge it in court.
But Walker gave Al-Haramain one last chance to reinstate its suit if it could offer publicly available evidence that showed it could reasonably believe it had been wiretapped. If it can meet that test, the judge said, he could then examine the classified evidence and decide whether Bush's warrantless surveillance program violated federal law or the U.S. Constitution.
The stakes are potentially momentous, as the only other pending lawsuits in the nation over the surveillance program - against telecommunications companies that allegedly shared their networks and records with government agents - are headed for dismissal in Walker's court under legislation Bush recently signed. If Al-Haramain's suit is dismissed as well, federal courts are unlikely to ever decide whether the program was legal. |

Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir has launched a campaign to stop young Muslims being corrupted by Western “liberal values”.
The organisation, which Tony Blair wanted to ban in Britain, has planned a summer PR campaign against Western “attacks” on the religion.
The move comes as Hizb ut-Tahrir’s British arm slammed Government plans to combat Islamic extremism and to take on the preachers of hate.
The group claims the Government is trying to build a compliant British Islam, and complains no other religion is subjected to such state interference.
Under the Government plans, a panel of 20 Islamic experts will be set up to counter warped interpretations of the Koran and to advise youngsters on key Muslim issues and how “that fits in with being a citizen in the UK”.
Citizenship classes will also be held in mosque schools, or madrassas, but Hizb ut-Tahrir is intent on targeting Muslim youngsters to “empower themselves” with its summer Stand For Islam campaign. |

Police in the Gulf tourist hub of Dubai said that they have detained 17 foreign men for allegedly being gay and wearing women's clothing in malls and other public places.
Police spokesman Zuhair Horoun said the men were either visiting or working in Dubai.
He said they were detained but would not elaborate.
Dubai's Gulf News reported that police detained "40 cross-dressing tourists". The discrepancy in the numbers could not immediately be explained.
The paper quoted Dubai's police chief as saying the arrests were part of a campaign against "transvestites".
Despite Dubai's Western outlook, homosexuality is illegal in the Muslim city-state. |
