Al Haram All praise is due to Allaah. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet, his household and companions.
Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah and take lessons from those who have gone before you. They have been taken away by death and you will certainly follow them. Allaah says, “Have they not travelled through the land, and have they hearts wherewith to understand and ears wherewith to hear? Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind.” (Al-Hajj 22:46)
Dear Muslims! Mankind are in need of mercy of the Merciful Lord as they are in need of love and compassion. They are in need of a forbearing one who can tolerate their ignorance and weakness. They are in need of a big heart that can give and not take, and that can alleviate their distress and sorrow and not add to it. |

The multiple shades of the hijab When a US-based television network introduced Ro'ya Zanaty, a veiled Egyptian woman, as part of its "21 and the World is Yours" programme, it portrayed her as a "combination of contradictions". A Western audience may find it an interesting - if not novel - story that a veiled Muslim woman listens to pop music and is willing to approach a man and ask him out. But for many in Egypt and the Middle East, a veiled woman mixing eastern and western traditions is nothing new. |

Laylatul Qadr Anas Radiallahu Anhu reports, "Once when Ramadhaan commenced, the Messenger of Allah salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, 'A month has verily dawned over your wherein lies a night better than ONE thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its blessings has indeed deprived of (almost) all good. And none is deprived of its good except he who is completely unfortunate'". Reported by Ibn Maajah
Who can have doubt as to the misfortune of the person who deprives himself of the great good of Laylatul Qadr? (Who can doubt the misfortune of the one who misses all the bestowed favours? Indeed there are so many of us). There are those who during the course of their services and duties of employment have to stay awake throughout the year at night. What difficulty can there be for people like these, should they for the sake of gaining the reward of over eighty year Ibaadah, stay awake at night for this month in the way of Allah's service? |

Al Quraan Abdullah ibn Amr (Radiallahu Anhu) was a distinguished companion of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. He was very dedicated to the worship of Allah so much so that his father complained to nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam about him over exerting himself in Ibaadat. His father said that he would always be reciting Quraan, performing Salaah and Fasting without giving himself any rest.
Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam called him in one day and enquired from him as to how much Quraan he recited daily and he said that he finished one Quraan each day. Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam then asked him to reduce his reading and rather complete one Quraan every month. He began to bargain with Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying that he could do better than that. Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam then said he could finish it in a week and he again negotiated with Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Finally Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam told him that he should comlete one reading in THREE days and not less than that because if he had done it in a shorted period he would not be able to comprehend its meaning. He accepted Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam advice and it has been said that since then untill he dies every third day he would complete one reading. |

Many find it hard to accept the official version of what happened on 9/11 More than 50 per cent of people reject the official belief that the attacks on the World Trade Centre on September 11, 2001, were carried out by al-Qaeda, a new survey has revealed.
The findings, released late on Wednesday, suggest that the official version of events - that the attacks, which killed more than 2,900 people and sparked the US so-called "war on terror", were carried out by al-Qaeda - is still a long way from being generally accepted. |

Xinjiang BEIJING (AFP) - Authorities in China's Muslim-populated far northwest are seeking to prevent mass prayers and the distribution of religious material as part of a security crackdown for Ramadan, government notices said.
