 We all like the best for our children. Names are no different. Unfortunately some of us go out and seek unique names which sometimes have little or no meaning or even has a bad meaning. We should ensure that we select a good name for our children because their names do affect their lives.
In the time of Imaam Abu Hanifa (Rahmatallahi Alai) a person cam to him and told him that a Shi'a has named his two donkeys Abu Bakr and Umar in order to degrade the Khalifahs. Then the person mentioned that these two donkeys attacked their owner and injured him very badly. The Imaam then told the person to go to investigate the scene and he will find that the donkey that done the damage was the one named Umar.This is to highlight what impact the name of Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) had on even a donkey. So selecting the right name and having the intention that our children should act like the Ambiyaa and Sahaba will Insha Allah have a great possitive impact in their lives. Amongst the best names to choose from are Abdullah, The wives and children of nabi (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) and the names of Ambiyaa (Alaihi Salaam).
